What is the Feudal System?
The Feudal System was the most democratic establishment in the Middle Ages. Life was based around a manor. The regional lord would live in the manor. When the town was under attack or threat, people would flock to the Manor. The manor was a huge strong building which could sustain those firing before it. Many Kings chose to use this system as it was very efficient and resulted in less land to protect. The key role in the Feudal System was the vassal. The vassal was someone who received land. The Feudal System had a Social Hierarchy. It was believed that the place/ranking that your family was born into was determined by God. You were not allowed to change this. Though in the Hierarchy, the King is ranked the highest, the Church does not fall under a ranking. The Church always had the final say.
